A little background on the project.
| Door of Hope is a ministry in South Africa that takes in babies that are abandoned by their mothers. One of the places where the mission teams would often see God. |
As a wealthy westerner (in relative terms, yes very wealthy), it was hard to walk through the many informal settlements (PC term for "slums) that dot the landscape of urban, suburban, and rural South Africa, and not feel pity for the people trapped in these conditions. But in the midst of all of this pain and suffering, we would inevitably see a small glimmer of hope somewhere. The stone rolled away just enough to allow a little resurrection shine through into the darkest of places.
In order to unpack these moments of hope, every evening, a question would be posed to the mission team: "Where did you see God today?" These were always meaningful times to reflect on where we experienced the Almighty in the midst of the seemingly lowly.
Recently, I have concluded that such a question need not be contained to the confines of a mission trip. So, I have made a point to put a my calendar an alert that pops up every day asking me where I've seen God that day. This blog is intended to be a journal of those Divine Visions.
